Lyrics:

Sometimes the day won’t ever end
Sometimes you just throw up your hands
It’s the little things sometimes

Sometimes the world has just gone dark
Sometimes your praying for a spark
It’s the little things sometimes

But if you lift your eyes
See it in a different light
Just a cloud up in the open sky
Let the rain, fall away
Cause today is beautiful

Lift your eyes
See it in a different light
Just a cloud up in the open sky
Let the rain, fall away
Cause today is beautiful

Right now it feels so hard to breath
Right now you’re asking God why me
It’s what you can see right now

Cause right now there’s a greater truth
Right now there’s a bigger view
Than what you can see right now

But if you lift your eyes
See it in a different light
Just a cloud up in the open sky
Let the rain, fall away
Cause today is beautiful

Lift your eyes
See it in a different light
Just a cloud up in the open sky
Let the rain, fall away
Cause today is beautiful

If you see more than what’s in front of you
You might see more of heavens view
If you see more than what’s in front of you
You might see more of heavens view

So lift your eyes
See it in a different light
Just a cloud up in the open sky
Let the rain, fall away
Cause today is beautiful

Lift your eyes
See it in a different light
Just a cloud up in the open sky
Let the rain, fall away
Cause today is beautiful

Lyrics:
They say be careful and look before you take your first step
Love is so dangerous you don’t wanna have regrets
I might be in over my head
You won’t leave me for dead, no

Aye, holding on to every word that You say
Courage comes and goes in waves, but with You I’m just always so brave on the wild side

It’s dangerous to be in love but I like it on the wild side, the wild side’s
Dangerous for hearts to touch, but I want You to hold mine, there’s no denying that I’m
Dangerous with you. I’m so Dangerous with you. You got me feelin’

Feelin like I’m runnin from the police how my heart stay rushin
Light up the dark light up this art you know it’s me why you askin me questions
I know its Him cause He given me life I know we win in the end no surprise
Pen in my hand are you down for the ride it might get wild we like that side

Oh we got it so I flaunt it love on repeat like its chronic
Word on the street is we’re toxic Infiltrating other’s mindsets
I’m a diamond got me shinin’ I’m the branch and You’re the vine and
Loves so fierce got the heart of a lion veils been pierced so it’s hard to stay silent

Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
I once was dead in sin
Alone and hopeless,
A child of wrath I walked
Condemned in darkness,

But Your mercy brought new life
And in Your love and kindness,
Raised me up with Christ
And made me righteous.

(Chorus)
You have bought me back
With the riches of,
Your amazing grace
And relentless love.
I’m made alive forever,
With You, life forever
By Your grace I’m saved,
By Your grace I’m saved.

(Verse 2)
Lord, You are the light,
That broke the darkness.
You satisfy my soul,
When I am heartless.

If ever I forget
My true identity,
Show me who I am,
And help me to believe.

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
My sin has been erased,
I’ll never be the same.
My sin has been erased,
I’ll never be the same.

(Chorus)

Genre: Rock, Jazz, Soul, R&B, Funk, Gospel, 70s

Now a veteran of gospel music, this is one of Andraé Crouch’s earlier songs originally released in 1972 on his album ‘Soulfully’. On this testimonial track, gospel music meets 70s Jazz, Soul & Funk creating an incredibly smooth, classic joint that’s aged like a beautiful wine.

Lyrics:
My world was empty before
Christ came into my life
My days were lonely and dark
Before He came and brought the light

Just like a song wanting to be sung
But there was no melody
I never thought there could be
Happiness in this world for me
Let me tell you that

Everything changed
Everything changed
When Christ stepped into my life

My world was empty before
Christ came into my life
My days were dark before he came
Before He came and brought the light

Just like a song wanting to be sung
But there was no melody
See I never thought there could be
Happiness in this world for me
Now I know that

Everything changed
Everything changed
When Christ stepped into my life

One cold and dreary night
He stepped into my life
And He brought to me the breath of spring
And then He gave me a brand new song to sing

Everything changed
Everything changed
When Christ stepped into my life

Member of the Deeper Well Collective, Liz Vice released her first solo album earlier this week. Drawing on the influence of 60/70s gospel and R&B as well as a head nod or two to contemporary singers like Adele & Duffy, Liz Vice beautifully combines the old & the new on this record.

Lyrics:
Empty me out / Fill me with You
Lord there is nothing / I can give to You
I lay down my life / Here at Your feet
You give me life / So completely

I died with You / Was buried with You
The moment I believed
I rose with You / Ascended with You
Into the Heavenlies
Lord, it’s not me / It’s You inside of me
Jesus, You are all / These eyes can see

Genre: Hip-Hop, Acoustic, R&B

This song by Brass Knuckle Bullies is from their debut album bkb, Brass Knuckle Bullies is a Hip-Hop duo comprised of Customary, and Dominique Berho. In this song, Brass Knuckle Bullies rap about their future wives, and how they think they might be. The acoustic guitar loop over the top of this beat creates a nice summery, chilled out hip-hop sound. It’s great hearing a song like this, especially a hip-hop song, that is honouring to women especially when the music industry is filled with so many derogatory songs often about sex, where as this song looks at the personality and interests of the opposite sex. A brilliant and original song, and a great album too.

Genre: Hip-Hop, Rap

Here’s a song from Lecrae’s mixtape he released earlier this year named Church Clothes, on this track he is joined by two fellow Christian rappers (Andy Mineo and Co Campbell) This song is about the ways that (young) people these days often try to find fulfilment through material and superficial things but they never succeed because Christ is the only one who can fill the void within our hearts. They show this in the first few lines of the song as they talk about girls who wear “Fake nails, fake hair, fake pearls” yet wonder why they can’t find any real love in their lives. This is a great hip-hop song with an awesome beat and an even better message, let’s hope that one day we can hear songs like this on the radio instead!

Lyrics:
(Verse 1: Lecrae)
Yeah, fake hair, fake nails, fake pearls
Call herself a Barbie, wanna be a fake girl
She can’t even see, she Stevie Wonder at night time
Too busy trying to get them red bottoms the right size
Tell her that you love her and she gonna call you a liar
(Whatever, you don’t really love me, you just wanna give me the lie)
On the bet, but the fact is she deals with fools
That see women as garden tools, never treated them cool
She said that suckers and brothers always makin’ her sick
So she gave up on em now she’s just attracted to chicks
But she never seen a man with a soul as clean
He fightin’ to be whatever God made him be
Don’t want to manipulate the date, then lay her, or shake her
Wanna give his life to her followin’ his creator
Maybe she gonna see he ain’t crazy and start wondering
“God, what’s the reason you made me? “
Maybe it ain’t to be physically attractive just so you can trap and capture
A man, that’d be superficially happy. Nah, you’re worth more than that, yeah

(Chorus: Co Campbell)
Beautiful lies, yeah, I know they ain’t right
But I bought it, but that’s the price of life

(Verse 2: Andy Mineo)
Yeah, look
I wanted the girl that was super official
I found my standard superficial
Cause behind the glamour was some super issues
And I ain’t trying to shoot to diss you, I’m just sayin’
Everybody gotta look fly, call em planes
And you don’t wanna step outside, lookin’ plain
They call it running game, everybody playn’
Dang, that’s trinity the word ‘play’
Sephora made you make up your mind
Coach bags made you feel first class this whole time
And them Nike kicks running your life
Your ambition been driven by them cars that you like
I know some girls that’s faster than T3ch N9ne
Self esteem as low as they neck-line
Cause they don’t know whose image they reflect, went to bed to find love, woke up with regrets

This is a matter of heart, kid
Gimme a second, let me show you
If you own something you can’t depart with
You probably don’t own it, it own you

Man, tell me what’s the price of life
Too much to find peace, so what’s your release
Yeah, there’s much more, believe me
Than living for the things that your leaving

(Chorus: Co Campbell)
Beautiful lies, I know they ain’t right, but I bought it
But that’s the price of life

(Verse 3: Lecrae)
She camouflage her insecurity in Jimmy Choo’s
High heels but the mountain’s top she’ll never choose
She’ll set up for a dude & precious medals
A slave to his money by his chains you can tell it
Page to embellish the life that you really live
Them nice clothes cover up, how you really feel
When your eye liner off and you’ve been revealed
Trapped in a prison with multiple life sentences
55 life times as infinity, you don’t wanna pray your middle fingers to Divinity
You ever stop and think about what the incentive is
Livin for their approval has got it’s benefits
They special cause they don’t live like you
But they die and their blood bleeds red like you
Truth is they depressed, takin’ meds like you
They ain’t livin’ it up, they’re dead like you

But you can live, uh
If you know the price of life
